After 30 plus years of creating riverfront magic at Cooper’s Landing, former owner Mike Cooper was ready to retire. Enter Richard King and three investors. King and Mike Cooper had talked about the purchase for several years but the timing wasn’t quite right, until now. While Richard has big plans for Cooper’s Landing, he understands what makes it so special and plans on leaving that part of the formula intact. What you can look forward to under this new ownership is improvements to the facilities, more amenities, and an inviting outdoor environment.
Meet the team
Richard King (Owner) – You may know him for his role in Roots n Blues music festival and his former ownership of The Blue Note music venue. After much consideration, Richard decided to take on his new role as owner of the beloved and historic Cooper’s Landing. His plan is to keep the magic intact while taking things to another level, ultimately making Cooper’s Landing an inviting destination for all.
Michael De Leon (General Manager) – Every Captain needs a good 1st Mate. Richard King knew what he was doing when he brought Michael into the fold. Michael not only runs a tight ship, but he also makes the meanest cocktails this side of the Missouri River. If you get the chance to taste a concoction created by this wizard, don’t pass it up.
Nick King – A marketing student at Mizzou, who loves Chiefs football. If you ask Nick what his favorite part of working at Cooper’s Landing is, he’ll tell you it’s meeting new people and the amazing sunsets.
